Ammarnäs mountain village

You find Ammarnäs at the centre of the nature reserve of Vindelfjällen, just where the river Vindelälven starts its unregulated journey to the ocean.
Ammarnäs is a genuine mountain village where the settler’s and Sámi cultures rendezvous.
The area for fishing offers first-rate fishing for the Ammarnäs trout, brown trout, grayling, arctic char, Canadian char and northern pike in streams and lakes.
Your chances of catching a brown trout of your dreams are big. Last year the average weight of the Ammarnäs trout was 3.7 kg (8+ lb).

The Kungsleden track and the nature reserve of Vindelfjällen

In the Västerbotten Mountains, in the southern part of Lapland, you find the nature reserve of Vindelfjällen. The track, Kungsleden, and the route Ammarnäs - Hemavan runs straight through the reserve. If you choose to hike, ski or go by snowmobile you will for a few days experience most of the scenery that our Swedish mountains can offer: bare mountains and moorlands, birch forests, lakes and rapids, waterfalls and steep high alpine massifs.
Short distances and food supply sale at all huts makes it easy to hike in the areas surrounding Ammarnäs. Just don’t forget to bring your camera!

Nature's Best

Ammarnäs Wärdshus AB is a member of Nature's best ecotourism since 2003.

Nature's Best is the first national quality label for nature tours in Europe.

This is ecotourism in Sweden at its best!

The Right of Public Access

You rely on the Right of Public Access whenever you go out in the Swedish countryside – whether it is to take a walk, go kayaking, climb a mountain or just sit down on a rock to think. The Right of Public Access is a unique institution. It gives us all the freedom to roam the countryside. But we must also take care of nature and wildlife, and we must show consideration for landowners and for other people enjoying the countryside. In other words: Don’t disturb – don’t destroy!
