The fish’s lateral line is a
most sensible pressure gauge.
By making a big muddler head
the water will be pressed out to the sides,
which the trout recognizes in the dark.
Flies with muddler heads are
success-fully fished at
the same level as the fish holds.
This is why an intermediate-
or sink line of type 2 is needed for this
fishing at Vindelälven.
Patterns like Sculpin Matuka,
Bomber and mice are fished with a float line and
will of course create a wave on the surface film
that attract the fish to rise.
