Brown trout fishing

The stream Vindelån or the upper part of Vindelälven, as it is also called, is pure brown trout water.
The grayling does not swim further up than to the rapid Vindelåforsen by the bridge at Northern Ammarnäs.

Vindelån

Introduction

The section for fishing at Vindelån is approximately 15 kilometres. It is a water with forceful streams and slow waters alternating. The crystal clear water requires you to move cautiously and to keep a low profile to succeed with your fishing.
As usual you chase the big trout at dusk when they leave for a more active search of food.
Vindelån is a very good water for fishing a dry fly.

Season

The season stretches from when the spring flood decreases at the end of June until the end of August.
Standard flies for brown trout in stream waters like Klinkhåmer Special, Elk Hair Caddis and Special Pupa work well in the area. Big imitations of caddis flies are never inappropriate at brown trout fishing.

Fishing licenses

You fish Vindelån with the license for Ammarnäs FCA up to the rapid Rävfallet from where you need the State’s mountain fishing license up to Vitnjul.
