This tour is certified
as Ecotourism by
Nature's Best.

Come along with the Ammarnäs Fishing Center and Fjällhästen for an exclusive fishing for brown trout and arctic char by exceptional waters situated in the nature reserve of Vindelfjällen. The stable Icelandic horses, used to walking in trackless mountain terrain, will first take us to Tjaskal where we fish a small system of meres on the border between birch forest and bare mountain. The other days are spent above the tree limit in the Skeble valley, where we fish exceptional Sámi waters.

An exclusive brown trout- and arctic char fishing of definite world class!

Programme

Sunday

Arrival and gathering at Fjällhästen’s hostel after lunch. Introduction of your fishing- and horse guides and the tour’s plan. We go over the equipment and the packing of the personal equipment in pack rolls (that you borrow from Fjällhästen). Dinner at the Ammarnäs Inn. You stay the night at Fjällhästens’s hostel.

Monday

Breakfast at the hostel and after that direct departure to the Icelandic horses.
The horses are prepared and the trip to Fjällhästen’s place at Tjaskal starts. After about eight km we are there and a cooked lunch is served before the fishing starts. Tjaskal is at the upper part of the mountain birch forest approximately 750 m above sea level. We fish a small system of meres for brown trout and arctic char. During the afternoon you can attend the fishing school with tips from your guide to make everyone feel at ease with the fishing. Dinner and overnight stay at Fjällhästen’s place.

Tuesday

After breakfast we ride up to the bare mountains. We ride towards north-east along the mountain Stuore Jåppe. Below us is the bird protective area Marsivagge with mountain skua, mountain buzzard and sometimes the golden eagle appears. At noon we halt for lunch at the lake Raksjaure. After about 22 km we reach Fjällhästen’s cot by the lake Lule Skeblejaure, approximately 850 m above sea level. Here we fish for brown trout in both streams and still water which are part of a larger lake system. Dinner and overnight stay in the cot on air mattresses and sleeping pads for best comfort.

Wednesday

We continue fishing the lake system of the Skeble valley after breakfast. Take the opportunity to share your fishing guide’s tips on how to catch the really big brown trout!
A cooked lunch will be served during the day. Dinner in the evening. Make sure not to forget to enjoy real coffee, cooked over an open fire in the cot!

Thursday

This day they who want to can follow the guide up to lake Guoptje, at about 5 km hiking distance from the cot. This lake is deeper and more round than the lakes at Skeble. The scenery along the lake is pleasant and the lake easy to fish. Fishing the streams at the inlet of Guoptje is also good. Brown trout and arctic char is there to catch. A packed lunch to bring for them who hike to Guoptje. Back at the cot dinner awaits.

Friday

Time to break up and leave for Ammarnäs. After breakfast we saddle up the horses and ride through the valley of Skeble up to Stuore Jåppe. Now is the opportunity to try the Icelandic horse’s characteristic walking- and motion pattern, the toelt. We will back at Ammarnäs after approximately 30 km of riding. We have a good dinner at the Ammarnäs Inn as a completion and stay the night at Fjällhästen’s hostel.

Saturday
