Come along with Fjällhästen and Ammarnäs Fishing Center for a combined riding- and fishing tour into the nature reserve of Vindelfjällen. During two days we fish mountain meres for arctic char and brown trout. To heighten the tension we fish both from the shore and from float tubes. The Icelandic horses, used to make their way through trackless country, carry the experienced as well as the inexperienced rider.

Programme

Day one

Arrival at Ammarnäs in the afternoon and gathering at Fjällhästen’s hostel for introduction of guides and programme. We go through the equipment and packing of the personal equipment in pack-rolls that you borrow from Fjällhästen. Dinner at the Ammarnäs Inn. Overnight stay at Fjällhästen’s hostel.

Day two
Breakfast at the hostel and then direct departure to the Icelandic horses. The horses are prepared and the tour towards Fjällhästen’s place at Tjaskal starts.
We arrive after about eight km. When installed we have lunch before the fishing starts. You can fish both from the shore and from float tube to reach the deeper waters. Both fly- and spinning rods are appropriate to use.
He who is not that an experienced fisherman will be assisted by the guide. You who have more experience will get your guide’s tips on choice of flies and effective tactics for the best fishing. At the mere, Tjaskaltjärn, both arctic char and brown trout bite. Fishing continues during the afternoon with a break for dinner. They who wish can after the dinner follow the guide to the mere, Mittibergstjärn, at about one km’s hiking distance from Tjaskaltjärn. Great fishing for arctic char awaits. They who rather wish to follow the horse guide make a short tour by horse on the mountain Gieråive above Tjaskal.

Day three
After a good night’s sleep we have a solid breakfast and the fishing continues at Tjaskal before noon. Gakku, the traditional Sámi bread, tastes well together with a cup of coffee before the horses are made ready for the ride back to Ammarnäs. We arrive at Ammarnäs at about four o’clock.
Shower and sauna are available at Fjällhästen’s hostel.

Guests, who wish to stay in Ammarnäs after the tour, can book accommodation with us at Fjällhästen. The Ammarnäs Inn will prepare a good dinner.
