Imagine horseshoes creaking in the snow and the smoke evolving from the horse’s nostrils as you ride across the frozen rivers one day. The other day, the joy of the arctic char you just pulled through the hole in the ice. On the third day, the view from the top of the mountain you ski and the tickling feeling inside you as your skis slide down the slope. These feelings must be experienced for real here with us at Ammarnäs.

Programme

Thursday
Arrival at Ammarnäs during the afternoon. We welcome you to Ammarnäs at the Ammarnäs Inn with coffee and buns. It is at the Inn you will live and have dinner during your stay at Ammarnäs. Introduction of guides and programme of activities and tips on some places to visit nearby as for example Sámi handicraft and Naturum. Dinner and good night!

Friday

Breakfast at the Inn. Today you ride together with Fjällhästen. Fjällhästen’s Icelandic horses will take you on a day’s tour to the mountain residence Örnbo. We ride along prepared trails and tracks leading along the stream Tjulån and further crossing the river Vindelälven. We reach Örnbo after a couple of hours ride beautifully situated by the steep slopes above the lake Gautsträsk. We eat the lunch package we brought watching the wide scenery. Done and good we saddle up our horses again and ride back to Ammarnäs. During the day we have tried the toelt and perhaps galloping for them who want to try it! This tour is mostly a nature experience and suitable for most riders, even if you are not used to riding. Children that participate should be at least twelve years old and used to riding.
Dinner at the Inn.

Saturday

With the Ammarnäs Fishing Center hosting it is time to go ice fishing for arctic char after breakfast. We go by snowmobile to the lake Näsbergstjärn, beautifully situated at 688 m above sea level in the birch forest region, about four km north of Ammarnäs.
The guide, well-familiar with the lake, starts drilling a hole in the ice. If light conditions permit peek fishing is exciting. You see the fish moving around the hook and you have to hook it at exactly the right moment. Your guide will teach you his best tricks and keep the coffee pot warm over the open fire.
Lunch outside during the day and later dinner at the Inn.

Sunday

Take the chance to visit Ammarnäs’ Naturum after breakfast. Here you will find information about the whole nature reserve of Vindelfjällen with its fauna and different types of nature. A visit to the well-known handicraft women Margareta Gran and Berit Nilsson is a must! Genuine Sámi handicraft made of tin, root and cloth. Their work is at display at museums and exhibitions around the world. Take the opportunity to buy world-class Sámi handicraft. Lunch at The Ammarnäs Inn and thereafter departure for home.
